Below is an outline of the classes we run and the rules for those classes. We are open to running pretty much any class, as long as we have 5 or more entrants in order to cover the minimum amount of marshal points. The only restriction is we are not allowed to run Nitro/ICE cars due to noise.

Super Sport (Beginner/Intermediate)

Last updated: November 2024

This is a great place to start if you are new to touring car racing. It encourages fun, close, racing, allowing you to learn how to drive the track, and set up your car.

Chassis

Any 1/10 scale touring car with 2WD or 4WD transmission and independent suspension all round.

The major manufacturers such as Tamiya, Kyosho, Yokomo, Carson, 3racing and Team Powers all offer a good variety of budget kits. Previous years touring cars are also allowed, as these can generally be purchased on sale from retailers or from existing club members.

Current premium touring cars are not permitted in this category.

e.g. Schumacher Mi8 permitted, Schumacher Mi9 not permitted.

Body

Any 1/10 scale realistic GT, LMH, GROUP C and touring car shells, that are a true resemblance of a real car, with a maximum width of 200mm.

Current touring car competitive race shells are not permitted in this catergory.

Motor + ESC ( Brushed and Brushless )

Brushed

  • Any Brushed ESC up to 80 amps

  • Any 15T or higher brushed motor that is non rebuildable

  • Gearing - Maximum FDR 5.74

Brushless

  • 17.5T Hobbywing Fixed Timing Motor

  •  Hobbywing XR10 Justock G3 ESC

  •  Gearing - Maximum FDR 3.8

We have tried very hard to match the 2 types of motor for this track. The brushed system will be cheaper and get you started. The brushless system will last longer and give you better braking and is reusable if you change classes later on.

*To calculate FDR divide the Spur teeth by pinion and multiply by the internal ratio, FDR = (Spur÷Pinion) x Internal Ratio

Eg, Tamiya TT02: Spur - 64T, Pinion 29T, Internal ratio 2.6, FDR = (64÷29) x 2.6 = 2.206 x 2.6 = 5.74

Batteries

Any 7.2V NiMH or NiCd or 2S hard-cased LiPo (7.4V or 7.6V) batteries are allowed. LiPo’s must be charged/discharged inside LiPo safety bags at all times. Maximum fully charged voltage should not exceed 8.40V on any battery.

Tyres

  • Any commercially available rubber tyre.

  • Tyres can be cleaned with brake cleaner, WD40 or lighter fluid.

  • NO ADDITIVES OR TYRE WARMERS

Weight

The minimum race ready weight including a transponder is 1350g

1/10 scale F1
